During focus groups for Independent Health, one woman described employees as “the RedShirts” – referring to the color worn by their customer service team. We then developed "The RedShirt Treatment" – a brand that’s flexible enough to stretch in different directions while maintaining its core meaning. Sometimes members share their experiences, other times we feature the RedShirts in action. Consumers define the RedShirt Treatment in different ways, relevant to their interactions with the brand. The results: record-high message recall, message effectiveness and brand awareness scores, both aided and unaided, year after year.
